Woeselcholing Center Opens in Hong Kong

A Dharma seat of the Nyingma Palyul lineage has opened in Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. On an auspicious Tibetan-calendar day, Khenpo Nima Rinpoche — abbot of Thekchok Woeselcholing in Bhutan — came in person to preside, as devotees gathered to share in the joy of the Dharma and form an auspicious bond together.

On 24 June 2026, the Woeselcholing Center (Hong Kong) formally opened in Wong Chuk Hang, with Khenpo Nima Rinpoche coming in person to preside.

Khenpo Nima Rinpoche is a teacher of the Nyingma Palyul lineage and the abbot of Thekchok Woeselcholing in Bumthang, Bhutan. He founded this temple — his family temple — in his home region, modelled on the pure land of Guru Rinpoche; it is where he resides, teaches, and trains the monastic community. The Hong Kong center is established in this same lineage, bringing its Dharma connection to the city.

For the opening day, an auspicious time was chosen according to the Tibetan calendar for the consecration, butter-lamp offerings, feast offering (tsok), and aspiration prayers. On the newly consecrated shrine, Guru Rinpoche sits at the center, attended by Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara and Green Tara to either side, set within lamp-lit niches beneath bright Tibetan banners.

As the pujas unfolded, the liturgies were chanted and the feast offering laid out, and the Khenpo led the assembly through the practice step by step, as devotees knelt and made offerings before the shrine with single-pointed devotion.

Devotees gathered from near and far; flowers and incense were offered and the butter lamps burned on, all sharing in the joy of the Dharma and forming an auspicious bond together.

"Bring the Dharma into every dark corner of the world, so that all places in shadow may shine with light."

Schedule of the Opening Ceremonies

For this opening, auspicious times were chosen in accordance with the Tibetan calendar for three days of ceremonies:

  • 24 June Morning: consecration and opening ceremony; afternoon: Guru Rinpoche feast offering (tsok)
  • 25 June Green Tara puja
  • 26 June Khenpo Nima Rinpoche concludes his visit and takes leave of Hong Kong

Programmes the Centre Will Gradually Offer

Now that it is open, the association will use this pure Dharma seat to gradually offer practices and courses that welcome all who feel a connection:

  1. Green Tara and other deity pujas and aspiration prayers, open to families
  2. Feast offerings (tsok), lamp offerings, and shared practice on auspicious days of the Tibetan calendar
  3. Lectures on thangka art and Buddhist culture, taught personally by the Khenpo

The exact schedule for each group practice and puja will be announced under "Latest News" on this website. May this pure auspicious connection keep the wheel of Dharma turning and the true Dharma long abiding.
